The Ghanaian Union in Thailand (G-Union) will host a free live webinar on Saturday, 19 September 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thailand time, focusing on practical approaches to entrepreneurship and building additional income streams beyond conventional employment. Titled “Creating Wealth Beyond Employment: Online Business You Can Start Today,” the Google Meet programme will feature Mr. Tim Brown, an entrepreneur.
The session comes at a timely moment as digital commerce, online services and technology-enabled entrepreneurship continue to reshape how individuals and small businesses reach customers and generate income in Thailand. Thailand’s Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), for example, highlighted new opportunities for SMEs in the growing e-commerce market at the Thailand E-Commerce Selection Expo 2026 while promoting digital and AI transformation among entrepreneurs.
The webinar is expected to have particular relevance for Ghanaians, foreign professionals, teachers, workers and aspiring entrepreneurs in Thailand seeking to diversify their sources of income or develop commercially viable ideas outside their primary employment. Rather than presenting online business as guaranteed financial success, the programme is positioned around practical strategies, real opportunities and steps participants can consider when evaluating additional income streams.
Recent evidence from Thailand's Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) illustrates the potential impact of appropriate digital adoption: its SMEs GROWTH 2026 programme reached 1,697 SMEs across 16 provinces and reported a combined economic and social impact of 689.5 million baht, including outcomes associated with reduced costs, increased revenue and improved business efficiency.
The event also aligns with Thailand's broader government drive to strengthen entrepreneurship and the digital economy. The Royal Thai Government has identified digital technology and AI among important engines for restructuring the economy and improving national competitiveness, while also emphasizing opportunities for SMEs and people seeking to establish or expand livelihoods.
Government support is increasingly practical as well: authorities reported in August 2026 that 95.48% of new business registrations were being conducted digitally, following the expansion of online government business services. Meanwhile, the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion continues to provide business-development support through programmes that can subsidize eligible SME development expenses, demonstrating a wider policy emphasis on helping enterprises improve productivity, marketing and competitiveness.
Against this rapidly changing economic environment, “Creating Wealth Beyond Employment” offers the Ghanaian community an opportunity to explore entrepreneurship with a stronger emphasis on knowledge, preparation and sustainable decision-making. Participants should remember that starting an online business involves genuine financial, regulatory and market risks, and any venture should be evaluated carefully for compliance with applicable Thai business, tax, immigration and work-permit requirements.
The free webinar will take place via Google Meet on Saturday, 19 September 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with participants able to access joining information through the QR code on the official poster. Through initiatives of this kind, the Ghanaian Union in Thailand continues its wider mission of connecting its community with knowledge and opportunities that can support professional growth, entrepreneurship and greater economic resilience.
