BANGKOK, Thailand — The Ghanaian Union in Thailand (G-Union) will hold a free online membership and database registration webinar on Saturday, 8 August 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. via Google Meet, as part of efforts to strengthen its digital membership system and improve access to community services. According to the official event announcement, the webinar, themed “G-Union Membership Starts Here: Official Registration & Database Enrollment,” will be led by G-Union President Mr. Stephen Donkor-Gyamfi and Mr. Felix Ocansey of IT & Media. Participants will be guided through the registration process, updating personal details, job searching and posting, chats, and other functions available through the Union’s digital platform.

The webinar comes at an important time for Ghanaians living and working in Thailand, particularly those who need reliable access to community information, employment opportunities and support networks. A properly maintained membership database can help the Union communicate more efficiently with registered members, maintain accurate community records and provide targeted assistance when necessary. The session therefore goes beyond simply creating an online account: it is intended to help members understand how to use the G-Union platform effectively and keep their information current. Participants are encouraged to attend the live session rather than waiting until they require a particular community service or employment-related resource.

The initiative also reflects Thailand’s wider transition toward digital registration and administrative services. Thailand’s Ministry of Labour launched its nationwide e-WorkPermit system in October 2025, enabling foreign workers and employers to register, submit applications and track work-permit processes electronically. The Ministry said the digital system was designed to make foreign-worker administration more convenient, transparent and verifiable while supporting the creation of an integrated labour database.

The Department of Employment continues to provide official digital services and information for foreign workers, reinforcing the growing importance of accurate records and digital literacy for foreigners living and working in Thailand.

Thailand's government has also maintained close attention on the management and legal employment of foreign nationals. In 2026, the Ministry of Labour continued reviewing foreign-worker policies and work-permit arrangements, while authorities have emphasized compliance with the occupations and employment conditions permitted under Thai law.
For G-Union members, the webinar should therefore be understood as a community registration and information initiative rather than a substitute for Thai government immigration, employment or work-permit procedures. Members who need official information concerning their right to work in Thailand should consult the Department of Employment or Ministry of Labour, which provides dedicated foreign-worker services and assistance.

From an information-management perspective, the value of a community database depends heavily on the accuracy, security and responsible handling of members' information. Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) establishes responsibilities for organizations that control or process personal information, and the Personal Data Protection Committee maintains systems relating to data controllers, processors and Data Protection Officers. Against this regulatory background, members participating in digital community platforms should pay attention to the accuracy of the information they submit and understand how their personal information will be collected and used. The webinar provides G-Union with an opportunity to promote not only registration but also responsible digital participation and stronger communication between its leadership and members.

The 8 August webinar represents another step in G-Union's effort to build a more organized, accessible and digitally connected Ghanaian community in Thailand. Members who have not completed their registration, those who need to update existing details, and those who want to understand features such as job search and posting, chats and other membership services are encouraged to participate. The programme begins at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 8:00 p.m. on Google Meet, with access information provided through the QR code on the official event poster.
